Drinking red wine can stop you losing your hearing in later life, according to American research. The wine counter- acts ear damage such as that said to be caused by loud noise or antibiotics. Antioxidants in red wine can help neutralise free radicals, which can damage hairs in the inner ear. Green tea and aspirin have similar effects.

Office of Hearing Services

Absolute Hearing is accredited by the Commonwealth Government to provide FREE hearing services and FREE hearing aids to Pensioners and Veterans.

 

Private Health Insurance

Private health insurance contributes towards hearing aids, the amount dependent on your level of cover – contact your fund for details.


Tax Offset

In addition, you may be able to claim a medical expense tax offset for hearings aids. For the current year, the tax offset is 20% of the cost of your hearing aids over $1,500. Further information may be obtained from your accountant or call the Tax Infoline on 13 28 61

 

Job Access

Job Access is a Commonwealth Government initiative to help people with hearing impairment by funding work-related modifications and services, including hearing aids. If you are eligible, your new hearing aids will be subsidised by the Government.
